What is Greenpeace Giving?
Greenpeace Giving is a website full of virtual gifts that help save the planet. You can choose from a wide range of gifts representing Greenpeace’s campaigns. Your friend will get an ecard with details of their gift, and your donation will go to support Greenpeace’s work in NZ and around the world.
How does it work?
Simply browse our collection of gifts, choose what you want to buy, and then add an ecard and a personal message before you add the gift to your basket. Once you’ve checked out, you’ll receive a confirmation email and your friend will receive an email telling them they have received a gift from you.
Does my ecard have to be sent immediately?
No. When you choose the ecard to go with your gift, you can either set it up to send immediately, or at a specified date in the future. That way your friend will get their gift on their special day.
Where does the money go?
Greenpeace Giving gifts are split into five categories - Oceans, Forests, Climate, Actions and Campaigning. This means that if you buy a gift in the forests category, your money will be spent on our forests campaign work.
Does my money get spent on the exact gift I have bought?
Due to the nature of Greenpeace’s work, our campaign priorities can sometimes change depending on our campaign targets and their responses to our work. Therefore we need to have some flexibility in the way we budget. All the gifts featured in Greenpeace Giving represent real campaign priorities that we do spend supporters’ donations on. However, there is a chance that if you buy a specific gift, your money will be spent on something that is a higher priority for us at the time. We will make sure that if this does happen, the money will be spent within the same campaign area, for example if you buy a Climate gift the money will be spent within our Climate campaign.
Can I give an additional donation?
Yes. When you reach the checkout there is a space for you to add an additional donation without a gift associated with it.
Can I receive my gift in the post?
Unfortunately not. In order to save resources, all gift cards are delivered electronically to the email address that you select.
What if the person I want to buy for doesn’t have an email address?
If you would like to send a gift to somebody who doesn’t have an email address, we would recommend that you enter your own email address in the ‘recipient email’ field when purchasing the gift. The ecard will be delivered to you and you can either show the recipient the card on screen or print it out for them.
What if I don’t have an email address?
Unfortunately, as Greenpeace Giving is completely online in order to reduce waste, you need to have an email address to make a purchase. This is so we can send you confirmation of your order.
How long does it take for the ecard to be delivered?
If you choose for your card to be sent immediately, your friend should receive it within a couple of hours. If you choose to send your card on a date in the future, it will be sent on the date you have selected.
Can I send each gift to more than one person?
No. Each gift you buy is valid for one recipient only. If you would like to send the same gift to more than one person you will have to add it to your basket several times and fill out an ecard for each recipient.
Will the person I send the ecard to receive any more communication from you?
No. The details you provide for the recipients of your gifts will be used only to send the ecard to them; they will not receive any further communication from us unless they choose to, and their details will not be stored on our database.
I work for a company. Can I buy gifts for my staff members/customers?
Unfortunately not. In order to maintain our independence, Greenpeace does not accept donations from companies or organisations, so we cannot accept purchases made on company credit cards.
My ecard hasn’t been delivered. What should I do?
If you have received a confirmation that the ecard has been sent, but your friend has not received the ecard, there is a chance that the email may have been caught by their junk mail filter. As there is a link to the ecard in the email you have received, you can forward this email to your friend instead.
If you have not received a confirmation email, please contact us on info@greenpeace.org.nz or 0800 269065 and we will resend the ecard.
Is this site secure?
Greenpeace NZ uses industry standard efforts to safeguard the confidentiality of your personally identifiable information, such as firewalls and Secure Socket Layers. We make every effort to protect the loss, misuse, and alteration of the information under our control. Credit card payments on Greenpeace Giving are processed by Flo2Cash through a secure connection.
How much of my money is spent on admin?
Because Greenpeace Giving is completely online, the admin costs are very low. Across the whole of Greenpeace, less than 6% of income is spent on admin costs.
Can I Gift Aid my Greenpeace Giving purchase?
Due to the political nature of our work, Greenpeace is not a registered charity, so unfortunately we cannot accept Gift Aid on your purchases.
